HENDRICKS AVENUE PARTNESHIP INITIATIVE
(HAPI)
What is HAPI?
Hendricks Avenue Partnership Initiative is a faith based partnership between Southside United Methodist Church (SUMC) and Hendricks Avenue Elementary School (HAE) that seeks to address known academic, social and emotional needs of HAE students and their families. Our mission is to partner with our community to provide the resources and support necessary to empower our neighborhood students and families with dignity, academic and social enrichment.
OUR PROGRAMS
During the Christmas Season, members of our church and community come together to help Hendricks Avenue Elementary School students and their families have gifts and a meal at Christmas.
HAPI provides volunteer tutors to extended day students in grades kindergarten through third grade. HAPI volunteers are also in the kindergarten classrooms during center time. HAPI also sponsors after school activites for students in extended day with our partners Dance for Joy and Digital Music Academy.
HAPI provides a prayer partner for each faculty and staff member of HAE. Click here to sign up to pray for a teacher or administrator for the 2018-2019 school year. We also hold a prayer walk around the campus on the day before school begins at 2 pm. Join us!
At the beginning of each school year members of our church and community sponsor Hendricks Avenue Elementary students in need by providing back packs, school supplies, and a back to school outfit. Please click here for a complete list of school supplies. Email Angie Cosper, Director of Children's Ministries, at a.cosper@southsidemethodist.org if you would like to sponsor a child.
