April 5 // Palm Sunday Service @9AM on sumcjax.org
This Sunday is Palm Sunday and the start of Holy Week! Join us online for Sunday Service at 9AM by going to sumcjax.org!
Starting April 6 // Daily Devotional Videos with Pastor Dale
Early morning Holy Week chapel services are a tradition at SUMC. Well, we are keeping the traditional alive with early morning devotional videos with Pastor Dale starting Monday, April 6th. Daily devotionals will be published at 7AM on SUMC's YouTube page. This is a great way to start your day and keep the focus on Holy Week.
April 8 // Worship Wednesday on Facebook Live @7PM
We miss spending our Wednesday evenings sharing dinner and joining together for small groups. Thanks to technology though, we can still join together online and take a pause mid-week to worship and pray together! Join us on Facebook at 7PM!
April 9 // Maundy Thursday Live Service & at Home Communion @6PM
Join us online for a brief Maundy Thursday service on Facebook Live. We will be celebrating communion remotely, so you are encouraged to gather "elements" bread, juice or any close substitutes and partake in communion. We'll have more information coming out about what Maundy Thursday means and why it's so important we take the time to gather in prayer and worship on this day.
April 12 // EASTER Sunday Service @9AM on sumcjax.org
Join us online for Easter Sunday Service at 9AM on sumcjax.org! We look forward to a day of hope and celebration with you all!
Additionally, we encourage everyone to sport your usual Easter outfits even from home! We would love to see and share your Easter pics! Whether you take a stroll down to the church for a family photo in front of the Cross of Hope or a snap shot of your backyard Easter egg hunt, we want to see how you are making the most of this unique Easter! Share your Easter photos with us using the hashtag #SUMCEaster.
Prayer Wall // Starts April 5th
We want to encourage our church and community to really lean into prayer during this challenging season. Starting Palm Sunday we will have a Prayer Wall located outside, in front of our Sanctuary. If you are on a walk, run, bike ride to get fresh air, stop by and place your prayer request on the wall or simply take a minute to pray over the prayers of your community. In an effort to protect everyone's well-being, we ask you comply with social distancing, keeping 6 feet from others and encourage everyone to bring your own pen to write your request.
Cross of Hope // April 10-12
We invite you to stop by the the Cross of Hope (the cross on the point) between Good Friday and Easter Sunday and bring a flower to place on the cross. The cross symbolizes Jesus' broken body and shed blood, reminding us of His sacrifice. The cross is a symbol of His mercy, grace and the hope we have in Him to overcome any hardship. We want everyone to be reminded of that great hope this Easter. So take a walk up to the Cross of Hope between April 10-12, and bring a flower to place in the cross so that on Easter Sunday the point has the most beautiful symbol of hope for our community, and a reminder that just as Jesus overcame the grave, He will sustain us through hard times. Again, we ask if you stop by the Cross of Hope that you comply with social distancing, keeping 6 feet from others.
