Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your requests to God.
Hebrews 13:15-16 Through Jesus therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise- the fruit of lips that openly confess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
I used to think of thanksgiving and praise as a requirement God needed. Like the Pillsbury Dough Boy from Ghost Busters, I pictured God getting bigger and bigger the more I thanked Him and praised Him. That somehow, my praise made Him more willing to answer my prayers. But, I’ve learned thanksgiving is actually a secret weapon God created in us to bless and protect us.
Stress, anxiety, anger, unforgiveness and worry are all around us and can cause mental and physical health problems. Recent brain studies prove how stress and gratitude will not coexists. Think about that!
God knew life would have trials and tribulations, so, He equipped us with the power of gratitude and thanksgiving. Not only so this worldly life will go well, but so we are aware of His Presence. Thanksgiving and praise settle our hearts and minds to receive more of God’s goodness. He tells us to take that good and share it with others. Thank You Heavenly Father for You are so good to us! I praise You Father for we are fearfully and wonderfully made! Psalm 139:14
